Brief insights: You Don’t Have A Shot is a light-hearted rivals-to-lovers romance about Vale and Leticia, two soccer coaches at a summer camp, who gradually form a deep connection. The book is enjoyable for teens, offering a great setting, exciting soccer dynamics, and strong character development.

You Don’t Have A Shot is a light hearted romance novel perfect for teens. It is about Vale and Laticia, two rivals stuck coaching soccer at the same soccer camp together.

One of my all time favorite romance novels, You Don’t Have A Shot, is a captivating rivals-to-lovers story that I couldn’t get enough of. Vale, who is stubborn and pessimistic at the start, undergoes an inspiring transformation, becoming more optimistic and open to change. Leticia, a kind and supportive friend, forms an unexpected alliance with Vale, which gradually blossoms into something deeper. Although we get to know Vale’s character in-depth—especially through her complex family dynamics—I would have loved to learn more about Leticia. The story is told from Vale’s perspective, but alternating chapters would have given us insight into Leticia’s thoughts and feelings, enriching the story even more. I also really enjoyed the setting: the summer camp provides a perfect backdrop for the characters to grow and bond away from their parents’ influence. Their shared passion for soccer ties them together, adding an exciting, dynamic element to the story. The frequent swearing throughout the book enhances the intensity of the characters’ emotions, reflecting their raw passion and personalities.

I would recommend this book to anyone 12+. It’s a light romance book with good character depth and development, a great setting and the excitement of sports.

12+ because of frequent swearing
