Brief Insights: The Fault in Our Stars is a moving story about two teenagers, Hazel and Augustus, who fall in love while dealing with cancer. The book is both sad and inspiring, showing how they face life’s challenges and reminding us to live fully, no matter how tough things get.

There are some books that make you question the meaning of life, there are books that make you feel so vividly that you’ll cry, laugh, and scream. This is one of those books. The Fault in Our Stars is one of the most beautiful novels I have ever read. Hazel is 17, and she knows her days are numbered, as they have been since she was 13, when she was diagnosed with lung cancer. Somehow, she has held on to life, thanks to an experimental drug that has bought her a few extra years, but she has no idea how many more she’ll have.

Hazel’s life is full of monotony: reality TV shows, rereading the same book over and over, and attending cancer support group meetings. But sometimes, all you need in your life is one person, because one person can make all the difference. One day, Augustus Waters appears at the support group, and despite Hazel’s initial resistance, the truth becomes inevitable—they are falling head over heels in love.

Hazel wants to protect Augustus. She knows that one day soon, she will take her last breath, and she doesn’t want him to endure the pain of losing her. But maybe Hazel is wrong. Maybe their “little infinity” is worth everything. Because what’s the point of being alive if you can’t live it? Watching the characters fall in love, ponder endless metaphors, share their stories, and connect over their biggest challenge in life is truly heartwarming. The messages and storyline of this book are both complicated and simple at the same time. As much as it follows an ordinary romantic arc, this novel is far from ordinary.

In my opinion, this novel deserves five stars for its originality, personality, emotional depth, and heartbreaking ending. The novel is written so well, with many subplots, minor character arcs, and deeply resonant moments. The Fault in Our Stars is a story that is both hopeful and heartbreaking, with messages that will stick with you throughout your entire life. What’s the point of life if you can’t live it?
